Introduction: The U.S. military appears to be assembling its forces for some sort of major effort to attack and definitively defeat Iran. Various experts and former military figures are extremely dubious about the prospects of this potential effort. In Item 1)., “Total War Has Begun ….”, Douglas Macgregor, no leftist to be sure, thinks that a continued series of attacks against Iran will mark the end of the U.S. as a viable world power and likely lead to a global depression and the end of the Dollar as the global reserve currency. In Item 2)., “TRUMP ORDERS AIRCRAFT CARRIERS ….”, Col. Lawrence Wilkerson (who was Collin Powell's Chief of Staff for many years) points out that the U.S. Navy keeps its Aircraft Carriers and other important vessels 1,000 Nautical Miles away from the Iranian Coast because the fear the ships will be sunk if operated closer than that distance. In Item 3)., “Chas Freeman: Middle East ….”, Freeman notes that the overall balance of world power has shifted and that the U.S., that under the Trump Regime has purged and removed most of the veteran diplomats, is no longer capable of negotiating with any number of adversaries and rivals. Instead diplomacy is left to incompetent and corrupt cronies of Trump. Most notable among these functionaries are Jared Kushner his son-in-law and Steven Witkoff Trump's frequent golf partner. And in Item 4)., “John Mearsheimer - 'US is ….”, Mearsheimer discusses the issues involved with the U.S. involvement, at Israeli and U.S. Zionist insistence, in the war against Iran. Right now the Israelis are not participating with the U.S. in attacks on Iran and are leaving the U.S. forces to handle this particular problem for them. No doubt, the U.S. will end getting pushed out of SW Asia (the Near East / Levant) permanently.
