Hegseth Demands Non-Woke AI Terminator Technology

Hegseth Demands Non-Woke AI Terminator Technology

~~ written by larrymotuz ~~

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is currently demanding that Anthropic, a lead AI company, abandon its ethical constraints surrounding its AI technology, highlighting that the military interests of his Department of WAR should override ethical considerations in the deployment of AI. Anthropic is one of the last AI firms not supplying its technology for classified military networks.

Hegseth has set an ultimatum for Anthropic. He has demanded that the company allow its AI technologies to be used without restrictions for military purposes. The Associated Press has reported that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has given Anthropic up to this coming Friday to open its AI technology for unrestricted military use or risk losing its $200 million government contract.

Hegseth could do either or both of the following if Anthropic does not comply by sometime on Friday:

1. He could label Anthropic as a Supply Chain Risk: This tactic has typically been reserved for companies from hostile nations, severely limiting their ability to engage with the U.S. government.

2. He could invoke the Defense Production Act. That would enable the military to commandeer Anthropic’s technology against the firm’s wishes.

Hegseth's positioning is intended to eliminate “woke culture” in the military by insisting that military AI systems must be able to operate without ‘woke’ ideology being a barrier to his Department of WAR removal of ethical constraints on AI military use.

So far, Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei*, has remained firm about ethical boundaries regarding AI use.

He categorically rejects the following uses as either illegitimate or prone to abuse, or both:

1. Fully Autonomous Weapons: Amodei argues against AI systems capable of making life-and-death decisions without human oversight. This is a pivot towards having Terminator Technology and pretending to be able to limit it. May I point out here that in AI war games, AI’s opt to use nuclear weapons 95% of the time, never considering alternatives like stopping the conflict? See, for example:

https://www.joemygod.com/2026/02/report-ai-models-keep-suggesting-nuclear-strikes/  How fun, eh!

2. Domestic Surveillance: Amodei has profound ethical concerns about using AI for mass surveillance on civilians, inviting abuses of such power.  He has described using AI for mass surveillance on civilians as "illegitimate" and "prone to abuse." His position has put the company at odds with military officials, who argue that all, er, ‘lawful’ military applications should involve the use of technology without ethical restrictions. (Hegseth, it seems, may be looking at ‘unlawful’ as inclusive of the word ‘lawful’ when he uses the words ‘lawful military use’.

The unfolding negotiations between Hegseth and Anthropic could set precedents affecting not just the military framework but also the ethical landscape of AI development across industries. The demand for unrestricted military access to advanced AI tools may significantly influence how future AI systems are designed, deployed, and regulated.

*Note: There is ABSOLUTELY no truth to the rumor that Hegseth demanded that Amodei remove the letters DEI from his name while doubling the m instead, leaving “Ammo” as a very suitable name for amilitary supplier of AI.
