Rigged Elections in the Lone Star State, and other States in the South and Midwest

Introduction by desmond morista:“Texas elections are illegitimate according to EU standards, should they be treated as such? At what point can a state rig elections so aggressively that their results must be nullified?”, Nov 16, 2025, Christopher Armitage, The Existentialist Republic, at <  >
Introduction: The U.S. is noted for a lot of election irregularities and election rigging, way more than is found in the rest of the developed countries. The standards and practices Texas are particularly bad, but several other electoral vote rich states are very biased towards their ruling Rethugs, including Florida (30 Electoral Votes), Ohio (17 Electoral Votes), Georgia (16 Electoral Votes) and North Carolina (16 Electoral Votes), a total of 69 electoral votes that now Rethugs and Trumpistas take for granted. In fact there is a harsh biased regime to control the voting in favor of Republicans in all the Southern States and several in the Midwest.

In Florida tiny mistakes on voter registration forms carry felony charges with dozens of years in prison, this was meant to, and was to some degree successful in keeping Democratic registration down to a minimum. Voting for Ron DeSantis is like voting for Emperor Bokassa, or Boss Hogg. This has been standard Republican practice since the earliest days, and in the modern era certainly since the trouncing that Barry Goldwater suffered.

These practices in Texas have become pretty blatant since the population of Texas began to swell even faster back around 2013, and all the population growth was from Hispanics. The voter registration totals are: Total Registered Voters: 17,485,702, Democrats: 8,133,683 (46.52%), Republicans: 6,601,189 (37.75%), Unaffiliated: 2,750,830 (15.73%). And there is plenty of interference with voter registration so Rethugs are certainly over represented.

One key way that Texas Gov. Greg Abbot, Texas AG Ken Paxton and Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson control the voting is they have had the state legislature pass all kinds of special laws for Counties with more that 2 million inhabitants (there is only 1, Harris County, that includes Houston and where about 4.7 million people live). The previous Texas Secretary of State bragged that in 2024 he stopped the Harris County Clerk from mailing out mail in ballots to all voters in Harris County; and that pushed the state into the Trump Win Column.

Just more proof of the fact that the U.S., certainly never a real democracy, is getting worse and worse.
