Introduction by dmorista: In addition to the already well-known focal points of contention and struggle on Earth (Ukraine, Middle East Gaza-Iran-Israel, and Taiwan) now here is a growing confrontation in Venezuela and in the seas off shore of that country. There is a plethora of material on-line about the situation there ranging from the standard Imperialist clap-trap about how Maduro is a dictator and the right-wing won the election(s) and Maduro is not a legitimate president all the way to leftist analyses that consider the effects of 20 years of sanctions, blockade, sabotage and interference in Venezuela's internal affairs by the U.S. Empire. But what is a fact is that when the U.S. quit buying most of Venezuela's oil the Chinese stepped in an began providing development aid and began buying significant amounts of Venezuelan oil. In Item 1)., “RICHARD WOLFF – TRUMP ….”,Richard Wolff reviews the first major challenge to U.S. Power, in the Western Hemisphere and that is violating the much vaunted Monroe Doctrine, at least since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. However, the current situation is a far more serious and long-term challenge than the 1962 situation was.
In Item 2)., “China Hits U S Military ….”, Wolff writes about the vulnerabilities of the U.S. to China; that now supplies much of the equipment and components of weapons systems that the U.S. military uses. Finally in Item 3)., “RICHARD WOLFF – PANIC ….”, Wolff looks at some of the basic problems and situations that are developing from sending 8 (three more vessels have arrived since Item 3 was written) naval ships with the ridiculous cover story that they are there to interdict drug traffic and that Maduro is a drug kingpin. Maduro also has a $50 million bounty placed on him by the Trump Regime operatives.
Wolff points out in all these podcasts that the U.S. ruling class is very serious about this and will use every stratagem in its arsenal to resist Chinese influence in the Western Hemisphere. The Chinese want access to Venezuela's huge oil and gas reserves and are also deadly serious about this confrontation.
