Introduction by dmorista: Jeffrey Sachs and Chris Hedges talk about the John F. Kennedy Presidency and some of its crises, failures, and accomplishments. Sachs opines that JFK always had the potential to become a great President, something that he achieved in his third year after a number of stumbles and massive learning curve during the first couple of years.

The famous, but not really famous enough, commencement speech that JFK delivered on June 10^th of 1963 at American University is linked to and discussed. JFK and Ted Sorensen labored in secret on the speech, never letting the State Department, the Military Chiefs, the CIA and FBI, or any powerful political figures know what they were doing. JFK delivered a stirring and wide-ranging speech in which he outlined some aspects of his to achieve peace and begin a world wide program of military disarmament. When Nikita Khrushchev heard a translation of the speech that day he saw to it that it was made available to the Soviet public. He also called the U.S. Envoy to the USSR, Averil Harriman, to come see him and tell him how much he wanted to cooperate and participate in the ideas JFK advanced. Of course a mere 5 ½ months later JFK was dead, shot down in Dallas.

The manipulation and deception used to control the U.S. Populace and direct them into our current conditions of economic decline for the great majority of the population and endless wars took off when the most virulent factions within the U.S. ruling class decided to kill JFK. His murder was the first (the second if we include Medgar Evers killed earlier in 1963) in the string of 10 key political assassinations during the 1960s that list includes: Medgar Evers 1963; John F Kennedy 1963; Mary Cord Meyer 1964; Malcolm X 1965; Dorothy Kilgallen 1965; Martin Luther King 1968; Robert F. Kennedy 1968; Thomas Merton 1969; Fred Hampton 1969; and Walter Reuther 1970.

In addition the U.S. public has been subjected to psychological operations including the 9-11 events, the supposed Tonkin Gulf attacks. Then there was the series of bombing and assassinations in Europe that were aimed at blaming the left for crimes, actually committed by right-wing intelligence operatives and criminal elements, a psyop primarily aimed a Europeans but also used in propaganda and disinformation campaigns in the U.S. The American ruling class, and their international allies, are totally ruthless and a constant source of lies and disinformation. They have to be watched and analyzed constantly.
