Ali Abunimah, who is the director of The Electronic Intifada and author of The Battle for Justice In Palestine, engages in a discussion with Rhania Khalek, about the actions of the U.S. as regards Ukraine, Russia, and Europe. As the summary for the video notes: “As the U.S. pours a seemingly endless amount of weapons into Ukraine to weaken Russia, Western officials and pundits are very casually setting us up for a potential nuclear war that would be catastrophic for humanity. Meanwhile European hardship continues to skyrocket as sanctions on Russia destroy its economy and cause gas shortages while European leaders and media demonstrate shocking levels of racism and hypocrisy.”
The discussion ranges from the prospects on the current use of nuclear weapons and a look at the history of nuclear war in past decades; to the fact that the ruling classes of Europe are apparently willing to sacrifice their populations to major suffering, through lack of energy over the winter months, and seriously damage their economies; to the strategic alliance of Russia, China and Iran to present a unified front against the West. Abunimah also points out that the level of censorship in Europe has, in fact, become very high. Overall this is a very different view of the current situation from the triumphalist material being proffered by the Corporate Controlled Media in the U.S. and in Europe.
